This show's for the ladies. Hunky guys without shirts playing volleyball. Lost a camera battery in the water.

I loved the location for this episode. Port Dalhousie is a beautiful town.  We started shooting at the beach. It was fun walking around in the sand after JR as he approached all the different people sun bathing. We made our way to the merry-go-round and spun around a little. I love that we get to do fun things like that while working. I laugh a lot working on this show. JR is always spitting out crazy stuff.

While we were walking around looking for a star this drunk guy on a bike thought he was a pirate. So JR talked to him for a bit and he was super cool. He was “Arrring” like a pirate left right and center. Then he would do Tarzan calls. At the end of our little chat with him he dove into the lake off of the harbor walk. At first he didn’t come up for a long time and there was a long pause while everyone was waiting for him to re-surface. I’m pretty sure a few people on the crew were wondering if he was going to come up at all.
In this episode there were lots of topless boys. I liked it. In fact when we first met the star of the show he was shirtless.  This episode felt a lot different then all the other ones we shot, probably because we were close to the water the whole time.
We met 2 hippies that lived in a van and they had a rabbit. They stuck around for the tail end of the episode and chilled with our topless star as he went on a date. (Well he wore a shirt to his date)   Then later on in the evening they showed up at the bar where we were.

I have been to Port Dalhousie at least ten times, but I never knew that there was a beach there… I was always at the bars… There is also a lovely carousel there that only costs 5 cents to ride… and a pier with a pirate on it… and there were lots of cute boys. This show became very stressful for me when the boat we had made arrangements for fell through… so there I was; literally running through the streets asking people if they had a boat… thank god it was off camera! Thanks to the help of a very lovely man, we found a boat!!!! And then the Greek restaurant…..what a relief and huge treat that was.  Who would ever think that the owner would get on the table and belly dance for us? NOT ME!

This was the perfect place to shoot this show, a beach, a boardwalk, a rowing regatta, and a cruise, hippies, a romantic date, and a little Greek women breaking plates-the day was a blast! From start to finish.  Even though there was another attempt to do a bar scene. Oh ya, first day we lost a piece of gear. But that’s another story.

Let me just say that I love this area of Canada...I never knew the Niagara area was so beautiful.  Nor did I know there were beaches near Toronto in which you a) could swim and b) not develop film.  Port Dalhousie, what a cool little town.  The gene pool is of a very fine grade, shall we say, as I believe only truly beautiful and fit people are allowed to live there.
We managed to combine someone's first date - a JFK junior look-alike - with a couple of dudes who were driving a VW bus across Canada.  They didn't like to wear shoes.
Favourite quote: "The dude from the van and the bunny just stole your thunder!"

“Boys and Balls… um is this title allowed”

Port Dalhousie is, I believe, known for its long boats.  It also has a beautiful beach and something else I will save for later.

We walked along the beach looking for our subject.  We found girls from the States who were in rowing competitions, a real pirate (Arrr!) and these two ladies from England.
J.R. decided that we needed a break, so he got us all onto the famous old fashioned carousel, for free!

We continued along the beach and found these guys playing volleyball.  We found our subject.  Yeah Mike!  While the others went to get some shots of the longboats I got to watch over the guys.  Tough work, but someone has to do it.

We had done so much that day and I don’t want to give it away.  I just remember being all excited when I got to be on a boat and ride with my feet off the bow riding into the sunset
