Part 2 of our infamous “I do I don’t” episodes...when is JR ever going to learn that weddings and reality TV shows do not mix…unless it is actually a wedding reality show. Still, it led us to meet our cool DJ star “Sweetness”, aka man of the ubiquitous rotating hips. Whew! Favourite moment: the thousand tries it took for JR to learn how to shake hands with Sweetness and his Unit – which is not what you are thinking.

Today ended way better than it started. We found a great party of women who were celebrating a 40th birthday party. They were 90% keen, but the 10% vetoed and won. Then there was the wedding party, which I vetoed but lost… but it was quickly kyboshed, ironically from the groomsmen this time (unlike the wife the last time), and then we found the DJs. Oh the DJs! Finally we had some real stars! There were two main lessons learned from this day. ONE, WE MUST STAY AWAY FROM WEDDINGS, and TWO, JR is not the best DJ/rapper ever…

Oh how I love Kingston. Nearly as much as I loved spending the day with our stars, hip-hop DJ’s supreme. We went around the school campus with them promoting the club that they were spinning at, going all along the dorm halls into people’s rooms. Sweetness was trying to impress the ladies with his mussels and moves. JR had me smear Vaseline all over Sweetness to give his body sheen. That was crazy. I was trying so hard not to laugh.

These guys were cool. We went to their home and they gave us a sample of their MCing skills. JR was right in there with them too, doing his thing. Then later on in the club while they mixed their beat, I had to go around and collect release form signatures. A loud music club isn’t exactly the easiest place to do this. I heard the people say “WHAT?” like 10 times before they understood what I was saying. But it was all worth it, because we got some great footage for the show.

I had never been to Kingston before. I knew there was a University in this town and everyone knows their is a penitentiary in Kingston so I figured for sure I could find some students keen on becoming reality television stars and even if I wanted to stir it up a little and cause a little trouble here in Kingston, it wouldn't be enough trouble to get us tossed in the big house. It was enough to get us tossed out of a church by a man of GOD though! Yikes!

I ended up rapping up the day in some club in the wee hours which is always a good place to finish shooting for the day. After a long day of shooting, the crew always seems to have just enough left in them to crank it up a little which usually ends up being a hilarious end to a long long long day.I'm not sure if anyone on the crew is dumb enough to tell any of those stories in their blogs but I know I'm not!

Maybe those of you reading this right now can go check out some of the behind the scenes footage on the website for a tiny little glimpse into what nobody is probably willing to talk about in their blogs, who knows!(lol)

Our day in Kingston began at the waterfront where finding a star became not only a matter of finding a willing participant, but also a matter of finding someone, anyone, who spoke English.  After several conversations in broken English, French, & German (with the help of Heir Stephen), JR set his sights on Queen's University & Loyalist College.  As we whipped across campus, some of us slightly distracted by the scenery, JR ran into our star Sean handing out fliers for his upcoming hip-hop show.  Sean then led the way - from promoting his show, through fine-tuning the mix at home, and eventually performing at one of Kingston's many nightclubs.  The club was the most memorable moment for me.  Seeing Mike on the floor with his headlamp blazing, mag light in hand, surrounded by ladies was just great.
